Dinant

A small town between the river and the cliffs.

Dinant sits in a narrow bend of the Meuse in Wallonia, squeezed between the river and a wall of limestone cliffs, with the citadel perched on the rock above the town.

At the foot of the cliff stands the Collegiate Church of Our Lady, whose bulb-shaped bell tower is the town's best-known landmark. Across the river, the Charles de Gaulle Bridge is lined with giant, colourful saxophones - a tribute to Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the instrument, who was born in Dinant.
