A long black neck and a white chinstrap
The Canada Goose is big and easy to recognise: a long black neck, a white patch under the chin and a deep, honking call that carries far over water and parkland.
It was brought over from North America and has settled in comfortably. Pairs stay together for years, and with goslings around they will stretch out their necks and hiss at anyone who comes too near.
