Through my lens
Copper and green in the long grass
The cock Pheasant is all copper and gold, with a dark green head, a red face and a long, barred tail. The hen is mottled brown and nearly invisible on the ground.
They keep to field edges, reedbeds and hedgerows. When you get too close, one will burst up almost at your feet with a loud, clattering call and a whirr of wings.
