Common Reed Bunting

Through my lens
A black hood in the swaying reeds
In spring the male Reed Bunting takes a perch on top of a reed stem, his black head and white collar standing out against the marsh, and repeats the same short, stuttering song over and over.
The rest of the year he is far less conspicuous, brown and streaked like the female, and many stay in the wetlands right through the winter.
