Harrier
One I never ignore
I have always had a soft spot for Harriers. There is something about their presence that immediately catches my attention, whether it is the more familiar Marsh Harrier or the less frequently encountered Hen Harrier. I can never just notice one and move on. I want to keep watching, see where it goes and, of course, hope it gives me the chance for a good photograph. In the light of the setting sun, their warm golden tones give them a special charm and make them particularly beautiful to photograph.

My encounters
This skilled hunter tirelessly scans the reed beds, tall grass and polders, often appearing out of nowhere and catching me by surprise. It is almost impossible for me to spend a day out in nature without spotting a Harrier somewhere along the way.
During the breeding season, their flights in search of food become more frequent, which gives me more opportunities to watch and photograph them. Later, when the young birds begin to fly, it becomes even more fascinating to watch them develop their hunting skills and explore the landscape on their own.
