Through my lens
Wings folded, falling fast
High above its target, the Peregrine Falcon tucks in its wings and drops. No other animal is known to move as fast as a Peregrine in a dive, and it usually strikes its prey, often a pigeon or wader, in mid-air.
It is slate grey above with a dark hood. Cliffs are its natural home, but it now nests just as readily on towers, churches and power stations, after coming back from near-disappearance during the pesticide years.
